Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, born March 26, 1991, also known professionally under the other name Ari Lennox, hails from Washington, D.C. and is the first female artist signing for J. Cole's Dreamville Records label. The first album she released for the label on Oct. 21 2016 titled Pho where she gained fame. Shea Butter Baby released her first studio album 7 May 2019. Ari Lennox started posting her music to the internet back in 2012 after she launched her debut mixtape, Five Finger Discount and debut EP Ariography, in 2013. In 2014 she continued to share her music over the web, including her own released single Bound. The track Sweat it is featured on Omen's Elephant Eyes album on July 21st, 2015. The following year, her music circulated throughout the Dreamville team, as J. Cole wanted her to work with him on some potential references to Rihanna. On December 28, 2008 it was announced that Rihanna was contracted with Dreamville Records. Backseat is a track that she recorded with Cozz for her Revenge of the Dreamers II collaborative album. Her Pho EP was released on her debut album on October 21 the 21st of October, 2016. Ari Lennox was a guest on J. Cole's Change and also performed as part of her own 4 Your Eyez Only Tour as opening artist. The year 2018 saw Ari Lennox appeared on two tracks by EarthGang On Nothing but the Best, and Bas, on Icarus. Ari Lennox dropped her first single Whipped Cream off of Shea Butter Baby on July 16. A music video followed followed by a video in September. Then on the 9th of November 2018, she released another two singles called 40 Shades of Choke (and Grampa). In November, 13, she released two additional singles, titled No One and Pdigree. Shea Butter Baby was released as her first single on the 26th of February, 2019, to accompany the album Creed II. Shea Butter Baby was featured along with Cole as part of The Creed II sound track on November 16. It was released with an accompanying music video that debuted that was released on February 20, 2019 and surpassed 3 million views on YouTube in the first week. She supported the 6LACK's From East Atlanta With Love Tour at the end of December 2018.
