Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell, an American journalist and a commentator working with NBC News in Washington D.C. She is also a television anchor. She graduated with an undergraduate degree in English literature from the University of Pennsylvania after growing up in New York City. Mitchell started in the field of radio and television reporter for Philadelphia, KYW Radio and TV. She was a reporter for the CBS subsidiary WDVM-TV (then WTOP) in Washington DC in 1976. She was promoted to Washington general correspondent with NBC News two years later. The year 1980 marked the beginning of her coverage of the White House. 1988 became the principal journalist for Congress. She was promoted to Chief White House correspondent in 1992 and chief foreign affairs correspondent of NBC News in 1994. Mitchell was a guest as a guest on TV news show Meet the Press as a host and panelist. She served as a panelist in the presidential debates in 1988 in the debate between George Bush and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan, former Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell has received numerous awards in journalism, among them the Goldsmith Career Award from John F. Kennedy School of Government in 2005. Mitchell was also awarded with the Leonard Zeidenberg Award presented by the Radio-Television News Directors Association in 2004. Mitchell began covering in the White House for NBC News from 1981 to 1988, during both Ronald Reagan's terms as President. She covered many notable issues, such as the arms control, budget taxes and the Iran Contra scandal. She also traveled to numerous summits in the company of the President Reagan together with Mikhail Gorbachev.
